Innovative signal processing technologies for smart and effective electronic system development.

The objective of the project is development and research of original signal processing technologies, which are oriented towards practical applications to solve actual economic problems and provide the opportunities for manufacture of competitive and knowledge intensive products.
Project includes development of promising signal registration and processing technologies for increased embedded system efficiency (cooperation, energy, performance) and mobility, extremely accurate (picoseconds) timing system construction, ultra wide-band signal generation and super-sensitive detection, biological (including brain) signal processing, sensor network (including vehicular) data transmission, and involves sensor and other contemporary material utilization. To accomplish the objectives, active collaboration with other projects of the program is intended, to utilize their innovations, including new sensors, effective energy harvesting methods, nano-electronic and other materials, and to provide innovative signal processing approach for material-science applications, non-intrusive control and contactless diagnosis of newly created materials.

  • EDI researchers involved in project nr 2. "Innovative signal processing technologies for smart and effective creation of electronic systems" are attending workshop devoted to National Research Program's projects at the Institute of Solid State Physics (SSP).  EDI scientists are giving 4 talks and discussing with material scientists from SSP on common topics, including flexible material with pressure sensor abilities. Third stage objectives (January-December, 2012)

Development of the prototypes of event timing system for demonstration of possibilities to achieve picoseconds-accuracy in different applications (laser based satellite localization, time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, time-of-flight mass spectrometry, etc.)

Development of multi-antenna prototype for ultra-wideband short-range impulse radar and optimization of effective processing of received signals.

Development of smart vehicular sensor networks, especially vehicular nodes and traffic related non-vehicular nodes, including application of embedded systems and creation of energy-efficient software.

Development of the prototypes for registration of biomedical signals using sensor network technologies and adaptation of previous developed signal processing algorithms for particular applications.

Development of the prototype of data transmission device based on rotation angles with generalized OFDM. Research for new transformations, development of corresponding modules/algorithms as well as investigation of their applicability in signal processing (radars, image processing, etc., including materials science).

Improvement of the models of radio wave multi-path propagation through long corridors and reinforced concrete ceiling coverings.

Development of inter-vehicular communication system structure and experimental model for evaluation of data transmission throughput between moving objects and static base stations as well as evaluation of the accuracy of determination of the mobile objects position using satellite systems, real time kinematic data processing, complex data processing and multi-frequency receiver.

Improvement of the efficiency of multi-path data stream collaboration scenarios in mobile wireless ad-hoc networks (MANET) using OSI inter-layer links and cognitive radio network technologies.
