EDI presents BoMUS-2 at the BioPhoT conference

On October 29, the University of Latvia’s House of Science hosted the second annual conference of BioPhoT, the biomedicine and photonics innovation platform.

Since 2025, the BioPhoT platform has supported 66 Latvian innovation projects in biomedicine and pharmacy, photonics and smart materials, and engineering and medical technologies. A total of 12.7 million euros has been invested in their development so far.

The conference featured panel discussions and short presentations by the supported research teams. Participants highlighted the results achieved so far, along with opportunities for further development and collaboration. An exhibition brought together around 40 innovation prototypes developed within the platform.

EDI was represented in the pitch session by Dr. sc. ing. Aleksejs Tatarinovs. He presented the BoMUS-2 project, which is developing a portable ultrasound system for non-invasive assessment of bone and muscle quality. Read more about the project: [link to project page].

The platform aims to bring the technologies to the commercialisation stage by 2032.
