Doctoral Studies
The Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (EDI) invites doctoral students to carry out their doctoral research in the institute's laboratories, working alongside experienced researchers on current research tasks within the institute's research directions.
What EDI offers doctoral students
- scientific supervision and a thesis topic aligned with EDI's research directions – high-precision event timing, remote sensing and space data processing, signal processing and embedded intelligence, robotics and machine perception, smart sensors and the Internet of Things;
- access to the institute's research infrastructure and laboratories;
- the possibility to combine studies with work in international and national research projects;
- the possibility to publish together with EDI researchers and to take part in international conferences.
Cooperation with universities
The doctoral degree is awarded by the university where the student is enrolled, while the research work can be carried out at the institute. EDI researchers take part in the doctoral study programmes of the University of Latvia, Riga Technical University and other Latvian and foreign universities – see EDI Partners.
