Didzis Lapsa
Mg. sc. ing.
Researcher
Didzis Lapsa is a researcher at the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (EDI), where he began his work in November 2014 by joining the national research project KiFiS, contributing to the development of embedded systems and a wireless sensor node testbed. In 2018, he obtained a professional bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Riga Technical University, followed by a professional master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 2019. Since 2020, he has been pursuing doctoral studies in Computer Science at the University of Latvia.
His main research directions include electrical engineering, embedded systems, sensor technologies, printed circuit board (PCB) design, measurement and instrumentation systems, energy consumption optimization in sensor nodes, as well as cyber-physical system solutions and physiological signal processing. His current scientific work is primarily focused on the development of efficient and reliable sensor systems, with particular attention to bioimpedance measurements for heart activity detection, signal processing, and the development of robust algorithms for physiological signal analysis.
Didzis has contributed to the development of the EDI WSN testbed (EDI TestBed), which has been widely used in research and international publications, and he has developed and co-authored several scientific papers in the fields of bioimpedance measurements and signal processing (including Sensors, Applied Sciences, and IEEE conference publications).
Outside of academic work, Didzis is passionate about technology popularization, maintaining a small educational YouTube channel, and engaging in electronics device repair and photo/video projects. In his free time, he is learning to play the guitar and pursues landscape photography as a hobby.
