On May 7, the second day of the kick-off meeting of the Swiss-Latvian cooperation program “Applied Research” Component 2 in the areas of ICT and smart energy – LACISE” (ICT and Smart Energy) took place at the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (EDI). The focus of the day was on two important work packages – WP2 and WP3, in which EDI is actively involved as a project partner.

In these work packages, EDI is collaborating with leading Swiss research institutions – Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) and the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM). Together, they will develop innovative solutions for improving the dynamic stability of energy systems using artificial intelligence methods.

In addittion to the meeting, guests had the opportunity to visit EDI laboratories and get acquainted with the institute’s research infrastructure and current projects, including practical solutions in the fields of smart grids and data processing.

The LACISE project (2025–2029) aims to address the most important energy challenges and prepare the next generation of scientists. It will promote long-term and multidisciplinary cooperation between Latvian and Swiss researchers, combining knowledge in materials science, chemistry, energy, information technology and artificial intelligence.
