From September 22 to 23, 2025, Dr. Rihards Novickis, lead researcher at the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (EDI), and researcher Edgars Lielāmurs participates in the Horizon Europe Chips-JU project “Essential Electronic Components and Systems (ECS) for our automated digital future in industry and mobility” (MOSAIC) in Gdansk, Poland.

The project launch meeting marked the beginning of ambitious European cooperation, bringing together leading partners from research, industry and politics to jointly lay the foundations for achieving the MOSAIC project’s goals. Over two days, the project partners presented the project’s vision, objectives and expected impact, agreed on work plans and areas of responsibility for all work packages, and established effective cooperation structures and communication channels.

The meeting laid the foundation for long-term exploitation, dissemination, and innovation activities, while providing participants with the opportunity to network, strengthen partnerships, and generate strong momentum for future project activities.

EDI researchers actively participated in the event sessions and made important decisions for the project in relation to the Research & Innovation Stream (RIS), in particular RIS2 “Perception systems with cognitive features” and related demonstrators. The discussions focused on the use of EDI quantum sensors integrated into demonstrators for non-invasive multiphase current measurements, as well as radar perception system solutions. Important first steps were also taken in planning the demonstrators and establishing cooperation between partners, outlining future technological developments within the project.
