The European Digital Innovation Centre “Latvian Digital Accelerator” (EDIC LDA), together with its partners, is launching a new project, “EDIC Latvian Digital Accelerator 2: Focus on AI (ID No. 101330707, DAOL 2 AI).
The main objective of the project is to accelerate the digital maturity of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and public sector organisations and to promote their competitiveness in Latvia and the European Union, with a particular focus on the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
The activities of the new project are based on the support and cooperation network established by the previous project, “Latvian Digital Accelerator”. In the new project, EDIC LDA will implement an approach in which artificial intelligence is assessed as one of the first solutions for organisations to consider when creating new digital products and services. This means not only providing information on AI technologies, but also offering practical assistance to assess an organisation’s readiness for AI implementation, select the most suitable solutions and understand how to use them safely and responsibly.
Businesses and public sector organisations will have access to four types of core services provided by the European Digital Innovation Hubs : technological consultancy, training and skills development, support for securing funding, as well as networking and access to innovation ecosystems. Activities on planning these services are currently underway.
During the project, EDIC LDA’s role as a centre of expertise and practical support for AI will be strengthened. The plan is to support the development of at least 80 new digital products and services, improve digital and digital skills in 370 organisations, and provide support in securing funding for 285 organisations.
The project will run from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2029. The total planned project cost is €2,566,995.27, with European Union funding amounting to €1,283,497.62. The project will be implemented by a broad network of 14 partners: the association “Latvian Digital Accelerator”, SIA “DATI Group”, the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science, the Latvian University of Biosciences and Technology, SIA “LEITC”, the University of Latvia, Riga Technical University, the Valmiera Development Agency, SIA “Elektroniskie sakari”, Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, Greentech Latvia, the “Ventspils High-Tech Park” Foundation, the Latvian Artificial Intelligence Association and SIA “AI Master Lab”.
