On 29 and 30 September 2026, EDI researcher Andrejs Cvetkovs visited AVL List GmbH in Graz, Austria, as part of the MOSAIC project to conduct experiments with a quantum sensor developed by EDI at AVL’s workshop.
The sensor is based on a diamond containing a special type of defect that enables highly precise magnetic field measurements. Within the MOSAIC project, the quantum sensor is being developed for current measurement, with the aim of creating a compact and accurate instrument for non-invasive current measurements in electric motors.
To evaluate the sensor’s performance and limitations at its current stage of development, the experiments involved comparing it with AVL’s motor parameter measurement system.
In this and other projects, EDI develops the electronics for sensor control and data processing and collaborates with the Institute of Applied Quantum Technologies at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), which focuses on the development of optical components.
