From September 30 to October 2, 2026, researcher Edgars Lielāmurs from the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (EDI) participated in the 39th IEEE International System-on-Chip Conference (SOCC 2026) in Heidelberg, Germany. The conference brings together researchers and industry representatives to present and discuss recent developments in System-on-Chip and System-in-Package technologies, including embedded accelerators, reconfigurable computing and AI-based edge devices.
During the event, EDI was represented within the Horizon Europe Chips-JU “Intelligent, Safe and Secure Connected Electrical Mobility Solutions: Towards European Green Deal and Seamless Mobility” (EcoMobility) project. EDI presented the scientific paper “A PCIe-Based FPGA Accelerator for Reconfigurable Convolutional Spiking Neural Networks”, authored by Edgars Lielamurs, Roberts Kadikis, Sergejs Umnovs and Kaspars Ozols. The paper is also listed among one of the EcoMobility project publications.
The presented work focuses on a PCIe-based FPGA accelerator for reconfigurable convolutional spiking neural networks, addressing the use of specialized hardware acceleration for efficient neural network processing. During the conference, the research was presented, providing an opportunity to discuss the developed accelerator, its implementation and the obtained results with researchers and other conference participants.
The EDI representative also participated in discussions related to the results and achievements of the EcoMobility project and exchanged knowledge with researchers and industry representatives working in the fields of embedded systems, hardware acceleration and intelligent mobility.
