From 23 to 27 March 2026, Senior Researcher Jānis Ārents participated in the European Robotics Forum 2026 (ERF2026) held in Stavanger, Norway. During the forum, he explored new artificial intelligence and robotics projects supported by Horizon Europe and other European initiatives, as well as the latest developments and trends in generative artificial intelligence, robotics, and smart manufacturing.
The programme covered a wide range of topics, from construction robotics and humanoid robots to the development of embedded and cyber-physical systems, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and digital platforms. The event provided valuable insights into emerging technologies, research directions, and innovation opportunities shaping the future of robotics and AI in Europe.
The forum brought together leading representatives from research, industry, and policymaking communities. Speakers included representatives from the European Commission AI Office, the European Parliament, the European Innovation Council, as well as leading European robotics companies, including PAL Robotics, Kongsberg, and SINTEF, who shared insights into European robotics strategies, policy developments, and future funding opportunities.
During the event, J.Ārents actively engaged in networking activities with leading European researchers and industry representatives working in the fields of embedded and cyber-physical systems, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, digital platforms, robotics, and related areas. New contacts were established, while existing partnerships were strengthened, creating opportunities for future collaboration within Horizon Europe and other European Union research and innovation initiatives.
