From 28 to 29 May 2026, the Deputy Director for Development and Senior Researcher at the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (EDI), Dr. Sc. Ing. Kaspars Ozols, and researcher Edgars Lielāmurs participated in the meeting event of the Horizon Europe Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips-JU) project “Ensuring the Sovereignty of European Electronic Components and Systems (ECS) Value Chains through the Development of Next-Generation ECS for the Automotive Industry” (ShapeFuture) in Bologna, Italy.
During the event, project partners presented the project’s work packages and supply chains and discussed the implementation of the project. Networking activities took place, project-related decisions were made and preparations were carried out for the upcoming project review meeting.
EDI researchers participated in discussions on the Innovation Chains (INN), specifically INN1 (ECS for Perception). As part of the INN1 presentation session, Edgars Lielāmurs presented the results achieved by the Dem2.2 demonstrator, including the event and frame fusion system developed by EDI. The architecture of EDI’s perception system, the performance results achieved to date and the further preparation of system components for integration and validation were presented in detail.
Dr. Kaspars Ozols participates in the Fish-bowl panel discussion “User Acceptance Workshop”, providing his opinion on various issues related to connected and autonomous vehicles, including opportunities to promote public trust in these technologies.
