On March 24, 2026, the Latvian Information Technology (IT) Cluster held its general meeting at the premises of the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (EDI), during which members elected a new cluster board and discussed the sector’s development, cooperation with Latvian entrepreneurs to further support the development of programs aimed at enhancing business competitiveness.
The event was also attended by the institute’s Deputy Director for Development, senior researcher Dr. Kaspars Ozols, and commercialization expert Egils Bēriņš. Members approved last year’s work results, as evidenced by the fact that over the course of the year, Latvian entrepreneurs had utilized 417 cluster services, including Test-Before-Invest services.
Aiga Irmeja, the cluster’s executive director, announced some particularly encouraging news: the cluster has received the European Cluster Excellence Silver Certificate, and it now has new premises at 91-k3 Dzirnavu Street in Riga. Operational priorities for 2027 were set. Several members shared their experiences working with the IT cluster and explained that they had created new digital products.

The event took place within the broader context of the development of Latvia’s ICT sector, where significant attention is focused on the development opportunities of the AI ecosystem, as well as on digitalization and cybersecurity.
Before the event starts, an introductory tour of the laboratories at the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science was organized for all participants of the cluster’s general meeting. Information was provided on the Institute’s achievements, demonstrations of the latest scientific technologies were conducted, and an explanation was given on how the Institute can support Latvian businesses in testing various technologies before companies are making larger investments.
