Electrical Systems Engineer, RTU Professor, Leading Researcher

Anna Mutule is currently working at the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (EDI) as a project manager.

Her main research fields include modeling and simulation of power systems, management and optimization of electrical networks, as well as the development of solutions for energy communities and Positive Energy Districts.

Anna Mutule has long-standing experience in leading and coordinating international research projects, including those under Horizon Europe, HORIZON2020, CHIST-ERA, DUT partnership  and ERA-Net programs. She is the author of more than 100 scientific publications and has led Latvian research groups within international consortia.

In addition to her scientific work, Anna Mutule is actively involved in various institutions and committees in Latvia and across Europe: she is the Chair of the RIS3 “Smart Energy and Mobility” Steering Committee, an expert of the Latvian Academy of Sciences in the field of engineering and technology, a member of the Steering Committee of the European Energy Research Alliance – Joint Programme on Smart Grids (EERA JP Smart Grids), and actively contributes to the European Technology and Innovation Platform on Smart Networks for Energy Transition (ETIP SNET) Working Group 5. Mutule is also a Senior Member of IEEE PES, as well as the founder and chair of IEEE Latvia Women in Engineering AG.
