From September 15 to September 18 EDI colleagues – software engineer Guntis Vilnis Strazds, researcher Laura Leja and lead researcher Kārlis Freivalds – participated in the International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) Joint Conference on Computers, Cognition and Communication (IFAC J3C), which took place in Padova, Italy. The aim of the Joint conference is to promote research and collaboration in the field of complex control and automation systems, with a special focus on: control systems and artificial intelligence, network and cyberspace-physical systems solutions and modern approaches to complex process automation.
Of particular importance was the special session “Control and AI Approaches for Sustainable Industry 5.0”, in which
- Guntis Vilnis Strazds presented the article Applied AI for Adaptive Robotic Conveyor-Feeding (Guntis V. Strazds, Katrīna Viltrake, Gergely Hollosi, Laura Leja, Arnis Priedītis, Diāna Dupļevska, Makss Meiers, Christos Chronis, Iraklis Varlamis, George Dimitrakopoulos, Kārlis Freivalds).
- Laura Leja presented the article Differentiable Physics Training Method for Robot Motion Planning (Laura Leja, Guntis Vilnis Strazds, Christos Chronis, Iraklis Varlamis, Kārlis Freivalds).
In addition to the conference, Kārlis Freivalds is participating in the AIMS5.0 project DeepTech workshop on September 18–19, where work package meetings, networking and discussions on the latest technologies and use cases, as well as strategic planning, are held to effectively reflect the project results in upcoming deliverable.
