On October 23-24, 2025, Liepāja hosted the Maritime Technology Excellence Center event “Towards a Sustainable Blue Economy in the Baltic Sea,” which brought together maritime entrepreneurs, researchers, and policymakers. The aim of the event was to promote cooperation, innovation development and solutions for sustainable marine technology and blue economy growth in the Baltic region.

The event was also attended by Kaspars Ozols, Deputy Director for Development at the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (EDI). Heactively participated in all sessions and panel discussions, sharing EDI’s experience in the field of marine technology, including the development of sensor systems, the application of drone technology, remote sensing solutions, and the use of artificial intelligence in marine data analysis.

Over the course of two days, participants discussed the future of maritime innovation, the creation of new forms of cooperation, and the challenges of a sustainable blue economy. On the second day, successful examples of cooperation were presented and future steps were outlined to strengthen maritime technology excellence in the Baltic Sea.
