From January 28 to January 30, 2026, the Leading Researcher of the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (EDI), Kārlis Freivalds, participated in the European project AIMS5.0 Work Package WP5 meeting in the Netherlands. During the visit, the latest progress in the EDI-led use case UC6 “Reconfigurable AI-based automated conveyor feeding by a robotic system” was presented, and further project development steps were discussed with international partners.
During the meeting, the results of UC6 attracted interest from project partners and the ongoing development progress was positively evaluated. The discussions also addressed the outcomes of the previous project review meeting, concluding that the project implementation is progressing successfully overall.
As part of the visit, the EDI representative became acquainted with the latest technological solutions and experience in production process automation developed by Signify. Particular interest was drawn to the company’s technology for metal luminaire printing, factory process robotization, and ongoing developments in other applications.
The meeting also covered upcoming project steps, including the next project meeting planned for April in Turkey, as well as approaches for more precise definition of key performance indicators (KPIs) and quantitative evaluation of results.
