EDI director and leading researcher Modris Greitāns took part in the delegation organized by the project “Smart materials, photonics, technology and engineering ecosystem” (No. VPP-EM-FOTONIKA-2022/1-0001) to the European Parliament, Latvian representation and European Research and Innovation Days events together with representatives of the “Smart materials, photonics, technology and engineering ecosystem” project from LU CFI, LU ASI, RTU and KĶI.
On March 19, there will be a visit to the “Parlamentarium”, a meeting with the member of the European Parliament from Latvia Ivars Ījabs and his team, and then a meeting with the Latvian ambassador to Belgium – Aiga Liepiņa, LIAA representative Egita Aizsilniec-Ibena, and the scientific attaché of the Ministry of Education and Science in Brussels, Aleksandars Mārtiņš Blūms.
Future cooperation opportunities between Latvian scientists and Belgian companies or scientific institutes and universities were discussed. The vision and directions of the next Framework Program, which are being developed by the working groups of the European Commission, were discussed.
On March 20, the events “Conference of the Belgian Presidency on Innovation Procurement” and the European Research and Innovation Days were attended, where several EU commissioners gave speeches on research and innovation priorities for the next few years.
