We invite you to join a research group at the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (hereafter EDI) that studies and develops machine learning methods for robot control. We work with both mobile and industrial robots and aim to make them smarter, more autonomous and safer in their interactions with humans. Our near-term work will include research and development of machine learning methods for automatic synthesis of programs to safely control robots; use of graded physics simulations to accelerate learning; research and development of robot perception and semantic mapping systems; and implementation of a control framework for a mobile manupulator.

Job duties

  • Research and develop machine learning algorithms and software for various robot functionalities;
  • Test the developed software in simulations and on real robots;
  • Participate in the publication and presentation of research results at scientific meetings:
  • Participate in the preparation of project reports and documentation.

Requirements for applicants

  • Good knowledge of Python and/or C++ programming languages, practical experience desirable;
  • Experience in machine learning (DL, RL, Tensorflow, Pytorch), robot programming (ROS), mathematics (differential equations, numerical methods, physics simulation) will be an advantage;
  • A background in computer science, mathematics or equivalent is desirable; PhD studies (possibility to link the PhD thesis with work at the Institute) or an existing PhD will be an advantage;
  • Willingness to work in science, to write and publish scientific papers, to participate in conferences and to carry out various other science-related activities;
