On 20 May 2026 EDI programming technician Arnis Priedītis participated in the AIMS5.0 work package WP5 meeting in Gebze, Turkey. During the meeting, Arnis presented EDI’s results related to Use Case 6: “Reconfigurable AI-based automated conveyor feeding by a robot system”. The presentation highlighted the first successful tests at EDI, where a neural network model, trained in a differential physics simulator, was used to control the trajectory of a UR5e robot in real time.
The meeting also focused on the upcoming plans of each partner for a successful project end. Additionally, the participants discussed the necessary tasks required to prepare for the upcoming AIMS5.0 General Assembly meeting in Madrid on June 16, where project’s achievements and technologies will be presented to industry representatives.
The meeting organizers from TUBITAK BILGEM demonstrated the technological solutions they have developed for the project. Among the demonstrations was an autonomous robot designed to operate in a factory while collaborating safely with nearby human workers. The robot can detect people in its surroundings, alert them about its presence, and, using cameras, recognize and respond to human gestures such as “stop”, “go left.”
Overall, the meeting showed that the AIMS5.0 project is progressing successfully toward its completion. Each project partner has developed solutions which advance industrial manufacturing through the use of artificial intelligence based systems.
