Laura Leja started working at EDI in 2022. She graduated from the University of Latvia, where she received her Master’s degree in Mathematics in 2020, and is currently studying for a PhD in Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Latvia.

Her research covers a wide range of topics, with a particular focus on artificial intelligence and differentiable physics methods – in the areas of motion planning and dynamic systems modeling. Laura focuses on tasks aimed at developing methods that accurately model the interaction of physical laws and learning algorithms, thus creating new approaches and understanding of complex systems.

In addition to her professional activities, Laura is passionate about self-defense sports, which help maintain focus, discipline, and physical well-being during intensive research processes.
