On May 20, 2026, the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (EDI) hosted “EDI Day 2026.” The event brought together technology experts, entrepreneurs, students, and those interested in innovation, fostering knowledge exchange, collaboration, and discussions on the development of future technologies.

During the event, participants learned about the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science’s current projects, research areas, and technological solutions in the fields of medical technology, sensor technology, robotics, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, quantum technology, imaging, and energy.

Special attention was given to the project “Expanding the Capacity of the Institute of Electronics and Computer Science with an Energy Research Direction (E–EDI)” (5.2.1.1.i.0/2/24/I/CFLA/006), a research initiative under which EDI, in collaboration with Institute of Physical Energy (FEI), successfully implemented a consolidation process and ensured the full integration of the institutions.

During the project, governance and the internal regulatory framework were improved, the FEI budget was integrated into EDI’s overall planning, contracts were revised, and the personnel and organizational structure were harmonized, while ensuring the continuity of research activities. Infrastructure and information systems were also integrated through the reorganization of laboratories, the creation of new workstations, and the provision of access to essential IT and project management systems. In addition, the research environment was modernized, new equipment was purchased, and EDI’s scientific capacity in the field of energy research was strengthened, promoting more efficient process management and the institute’s future development.

The event featured presentations on solutions developed through the LACISE project to address energy challenges, as well as initiatives aimed at educating the next generation of scientists and strengthening research capacity, thereby promoting sustainable energy development and international cooperation.

The event featured presentations, technology demonstrations, discussions, and networking activities that fostered knowledge exchange and collaboration among researchers, students, industry representatives, and other participants.
