To investigate the LMT LTE-M and NB-IoT communication system module (LMT SoM), evaluating its power consumption in different operating modes and in different environmental conditions. To evaluate the possibilities to power the LMT SoM from different types of energy sources.
To achieve the objective the following activities were carried out: described LTE-M and NB-IoT technologies, determined the typical use cases of LTE-M and NB-IoT technologies and their advantages in these applications compared to other types of network connectivity. From literature sources collected the parameters of different energy sources (primary batteries, rechargeable batteries and renewable energy sources) and, taking into account the available literature, evaluated their suitability for LTE-M and NB-IoT communication technology. Developed a methodology for power consumption measurement and power consumption analysis. Experimental determination of LMT SoM power consumption from a stabilized 3.3V power supply (in laboratory environment).
