Arrowhead-Tools for Engineering of Digitalisation Solutions

Period: 01.05.2019-31.07.2022
Budget: ~105M Eiro
Coordinator: Jerker Delsing, Lulea University of Technology
Partner count: 88
Involved countries (18): Sweden, Austria, Spain, Turkey, Poland, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Portugal, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium, Latvia, Romania, France, Hungary, Switzerland, Finland

The Arrowhead-Tools project aims for digitalisation and automation solutions for the European industry, which will close the gaps that hinder the IT/OT integration by introducing new technologies in an open source platform for the design and run-time engineering of IoT and System of Systems. To create digitalisation and automation solutions, the project adresses engineering methodologies and suitable integrated tool chains with the global aim of substantially reducing the engineering costs for digitalisation/automation solutions.

As part of the Arrowhead-Tools project, EDI, together with partners from the Czech Republic (UTIA) and Turkey (Arcelik), are working on a use-case “Rapid HW development, prototyping, testing and evaluation”, under which EDI is developing a mobile large-scale wireless IoT testbed for reducing wireless IoT system development and testing time by up to 30%. To achieve this, the project will define functional and non-functional requirements and specifications as well as system architecture; will analyze market needs in a particular area; existing wireless IoT engineering procedures will be explored and improvements made; the existing EDI testbed will be adapted for industrial use (components, housings, interfaces, etc.); special software and handy user interface will be developed; the developed tool will be tested, validated and demonstrated.
