The Institute of Electronics and Computer Science (EDI) has started a project titled R&D Center for Smart Sensors and Networked Embedded Systems in January 1, 2010. The project is supported by European Social Fund ESF grant No. “2009/0219/1DP/1.1.1.2.0/09/APIA/VIAA/020” and managed by Dr. Leo Selavo.

The general goal of the project is attracting human resources to science by creating a center for research and development in smart sensors and networked embedded systems. The center performs interdisciplinary research and increases publicity for telecommunications, computer science and information technologies. The project group includes graduate students from the University of Latvia and Riga Technical University, and researchers from EDI – a total of 16 researchers. The scientific goal of the project is the development of novel and effective solutions for interdisciplinary applications of smart sensors and networked embedded systems.

The project time frame is from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2012.
The funding amount is 844 000 LVL
