Application potential of a non-traditional approach to data acquisition from sources of continuous in time analog sensor signals is considered and discussed in this paper. It is shown that using nonuniform sampling at digitizing such signals and appropriate algorithms for processing them open up a possibility of obtaining a number of practically valuable benefits. However this approach requires also more complicated processing of the acquired data at reconstructing the original waveforms. Problems of this kind are discussed and ways how to resolve them are suggested.
